Removing Wallpaper
If you’ve ever applied wallpaper, you know how tiresome and time consuming it can be to put up, and unfortunately it usually isn’t any easier to take down. Here's how to take down it down yourself if you have to.
The first thing you want to do is put down some drop cloths, anything that will cover and protect your floor because this can be a messy process.
Next, use either a store bought or home made wallpaper removal solution made to break down the paper and glue to facilitate removal. Using a scoring tool, score the wall to allow the removal solution to soak through the paper to the glue on the wall. For best results, any solution should be left to soak in to the paper for about 10 minutes before attempting to remove it.
Now, you are ready to start your peeling – begin with a corner of the paper, gently pulling it away using a scraper for assistance, and aiming to remove the biggest piece possible.
Once all the paper is removed, wash the wall with a sponge to rid it of any left over glue residue.
Finally, before priming and painting your wall you will need to repair any damage or flaws in the drywall that you may have uncovered. Then start painting!
