Kitchen Cabinets - Faux Stripe Finishing

Spruce up your kitchen cabinets with a stripe faux finishing technique.

To apply this glaze technique, you must first prime your cabinets and then paint them in the colour of your choice. Let the paint dry.

Now you need another paint colour that is 2 to 3 shades darker than your base paint. You will also need to buy a glaze, which is a transparent paint.

Mix 5 to 6 parts glaze with 1 part paint and stir them together well. Roll this mixture onto the cabinets. While the paint is still wet, use a paintbrush and pull the paint across the cabinets in one direction to create lines.

A good tip is to use an inexpensive brush because it has rougher hair. Let it dry.

You have now added a grainy look, which brings a little spice and depth to your cabinets.
