EPISODE 24 - Kids are no excuse

Tips:

  • When potential buyers visit your home, it is very important that every area of the house be presented in its best light. A showing is like a job interview for your house: you wouldn't put on your best suit and then forget to comb your hair! Be sure that each and every room shines.
  • During showings, it is crucial that potential buyers not see any clutter -- especially personal clutter. Clear the front of your fridge, the bathroom counter and every corner of the living room of children's art, toys, mail, food, dishes and toiletry items. Try establishing a family message centre in the kitchen to help you control the clutter and be able to function in your house while it is up for sale.
  • Buyers won't be able to see past the mountain of toys in your children's bedroom - a mess is a mess! Divide toys into 3 boxes or bins: toys the kids will play with before the move, toys they can wait to see until after the move and toys they want to give away to other more needy children.
