Episode 24: A Stand-Up Girl

If you didn't know, there is an unwritten rule in the television world that states 'never work with children or dogs'.

Imagine asking your child to act, respond and hide their emotions like an adult. Then, ask a dog to do the same thing. Now, throw in a crazy swirly-eyed 'stage parent', a massive table full of sugary treats, a budget of six million dollars, for which you are already over by 2 million, a dog that keeps running away and biting people, children that won't stop screaming from the sugar high they're on, and the swirly eyed 'stage parent' that is demanding a private jet back home - and now, hopefully, you can understand where that saying came from.

Luckily for us - none of the above was true.

Ryley and Jayden Alp were hilarious to be around, not to mention consummate professionals; Torchy Peeden must have been a Buddha in his other life he's so mellow; and since we don't have a budget that would allow us to even have a picture of a private jet, we never needed to worry about having a table full of sugary treats….with one exception - Jen our PA.

Jen made the most Evil rice crispy squares you have ever tasted (they were made with a spell and we have become slaves to her rice crispy squares).

I think as a group of people working together, it was truly amazing to have this huge project to do, with two little girls and a dog on set, and everyone - and I mean everyone - helping out.

If the person who came up with the saying 'never work with children or dogs' decided to come to our set that day - they would absolutely change their minds.
