Episode 22: The Flower and the Fountain
Cultured Stone rocks! (no pun intented…really!)
In the last weeks of the first season's harried shooting schedule, I came across a photo in a magazine of a BEAUTIFUL English garden with a stone wall of a garden shed featured largely in the photo. I showed the magazine to Tim and we agreed that that would be a nice thing to do….for next season. So I pulled the photo out of the magazine and tacked it to the cork board in my office.
A year later, when we were in pre-production with Season II, Tim and I paid a visit to the good people at Merkley Building Supplies. They set us up with Curt - the Cultured Stone rep. - who not only supplied us with the stone but offered to come to town and help us out.
Little did Curt know that not only was he going to be our teacher and coach on all things stone, but he was also going to be cast in the episode.
Standing behind the 'director' (cameraman Mike Bainbridge) is the character of 'Tiny'. This very formidable man is Curt.
Fortunately Curt will never find employment working with kingpins of the underworld. There's just nothing available for a kind, gentle man with a great sense of humour in the mafia.
Good thing though, because if Curt ever decided to become a mean cunning Mafioso, he'd be a Don for sure.
