Run away groceries, wooden spoons and Sunday roasts! Elisa Goldhawke, realtor and co-host of Love It or List It Vacation Homes, shares with us some sweet moments and memories in the spirit of Mother's Day.

What’s the most important lesson your mom taught you?

The most important lesson I learned from my mom was to be a strong, independent woman. I hope I didn’t fail her!

What are you most proud of about your mom?

I’m so proud of my mom, especially in the last few years…..this amazing woman is so strong. My father passed two years ago. They were each others life line, it was a very sad time for our family. My mom has never driven a car, EVER. My dad would drive her everywhere.  So at 69 years old, she learned how to drive with help from us all, took her drivers test, and passed. She was so scared but she knew she had to do it, and she did it. I’m very proud of how after my dad’s passing, life took her in a different direction and she grasped hold of it with a tight grip.

How did you know you were really in trouble with your mom?

We knew we were in trouble with mamma when the wooden spoon magically appeared out of thin air.

What’s the funniest story you have about your mom?

Funniest story about my Mum? There’s many. One that my sister and I still laugh about is the time Mum, sister and I went into town to do some shopping -- this was in Nottingham. We would catch a bus in and out of the city. On the bus ride home we had bags of groceries, and the only seat available was a bench seat at the front. The bus turned a corner, my mom slid off the bench and all the groceries rolled to the back of the bus. As my mom rolled around the floor, my sis and I had to scramble around on our hands and knees, recovering our dinner for that night. It was too funny.

What’s your favourite thing about being a mom?

I am not a mom, but I am the coolest Aunty ever!

What was your favourite meal cooked by mom? (If you have a recipe to share, we’d love it!)

She still cooks every time I visit her…a Sunday roast. Mmmmm! Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. Delicious.
