Every week, we'll get to know the Hockey Wives a little better in an exclusive series called Off The Ice. Today, we meet Martine Forget, wife of Jonathan Bernier.

1) Describe the moment you knew your husband was the one for you OR the moment your husband knew that you were the one for him?

We knew from the beginning because for so long before we met, he was telling me that we really need to go for a drink/coffee and that he really needs to meet me and talk to me... so I gave him my number ;)

2) What’s your personal motto?

Live in the moment.

3) What is something you can’t start your day without?

My orange juice.

4) At a coffee shop, what’s your order?

Regular latte with no sugar.

5) If you couldn’t be doing what you are doing, what would you be doing?

I would love to own a beauty salon that offers high end service and cosmetics and I would love to eventually have my own line of swimwear and lingerie.

6) When you’re at home watching television, what are you watching?

Since we had Tyler, the TV is always tuned into some kids show.

7) What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

Everything happens for a reason.

8) What’s the secret to maintaining a good work-life balance?

I'm very lucky to have a job that odesn't require that I work everyday, so I can spend time at home with my family. When we are in Toronto, our families aren't always around to hep out, and we are very fortunate to have a great nanny for Tyler.

9) On Saturdays, where can we find you?

During the day, we are usually at the park, at the mall or on the Toronto Islands (in the summer) and at night we are either at the ACC watching the Lefs game or at home with friends and family.

10) When you do get a chance to yourself, what do you do?

I will usually get my nails done, get a massage, go shopping or have lunch with my girlfriends - whatever I have time for!

11) What’s in your fridge right now and what’s your go-to recipe?

We always have a lot of cheese and if I don't know what to cook for dinner, my fall back options is my salmon/asparagus risotto or veal prosciutto/brie.

12) What’s your favourite part of the day?

I really enjoy that time in the morning when I've had my coffee and Tyler is playing with his toys in the living room.

13) What’s your ideal vacation spot?

I would love to go to Bora Bora someday.

14) One word to describe Canada?

Cold.

15) How about success? What does that word mean to you?

Being surrounded by happy and healthy family and friends is what means the most to us.

16) Are there any special causes that you support? And if so, why?

We support many different causes, but the one that remains closest to our hearts is the Alzheimer Society of Canada because Jonathan's grandmother suffered this disease and we are deeply concerned with finding a cure.

17) What is the sweetest surprise your husband has ever given you?

He surprised me with a trip to the Canary Islands a few years ago. It was very sweet of him and totally unexpected!

18) What’s one thing that would surprise us about being a hockey wife?

I think people would be surprised to know that we don't go on road trips with the guys, so we end up spending a lot of time apart. Also, we don't get free tickets to games!

19) How do you spend the holidays?

We usually fly back to Montreal to be with our families.

20) What’s a must-have on your holiday table?

Wine.

21) What’s the best present you’ve ever given?

My mom loves Mickey Mouse so we bought my parents a trip to Disneyland. I was so excited when I gave it to her, that I was crying. They ended up not going because they thought it was too expensive. I'm waiting for Tyler to get a little bit older and I will bring them with us.

22) What’s the best present you’ve ever received?

We found out that we were pregnant with Tyler just before Christmas. That's pretty hard to top.

23) Do you have any family traditions you’d like to share with the fans?

We used to open the gifts on Christmas Eve, but now that we have Tyler, it will so much fun to open presents on Christmas morning with him!

24) What is your ultimate must-have item this season?

I love my UGGs!
