Every week, we'll get to know the Hockey Wives a little better in an exclusive series called Off The Ice. Today, we meet Keshia Chante, wife of Ray Emery.

1) Describe the moment you knew your husband was the one for you OR the moment your husband knew that you were the one for him?

I knew he was the one for me after browsing through his iPod!

2) What’s your personal motto?

Starve the ego. Feed the soul.

3) What is something you can’t start your day without?

My cellphone! There's so much action on my phone, between work emails, messages from fam & friends, my calendar (which dictates my life), the news, Instagram, etc,. I need a solid half an hour in the A.M. to do some cellular bonding.

4) At a coffee shop, what’s your order?

Chocolate chip muffin. I've never tried coffee!

5) If you couldn’t be doing what you are doing, what would you be doing?

Entertainment lawyer or record label president is where I would set my sights.

6) When you’re at home watching television, what are you watching?

Real Housewives (OC, Beverly Hills, NJ) & The Walking Dead

7) What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

Share your blessings. (Pay it forward!)

8) What’s the secret to maintaining a good work-life balance?

Scheduling your personal life should be as tedious as your work schedule. My calendar has everything balanced from date nights, to family time, to "me" time, work etc. At the top of every month, I set out goals, add them to my calendar & set out to accomplish them.  Scheduling those goals is a fool-proof way to guarantee they happen.

9) On Saturdays, where can we find you?

Hopefully at home with family & my miniature poodle

10) When you do get a chance to yourself, what do you do?

I love being at home, otherwise shopping, dinner, movies, spa, slumber parties (you're never too old for those!)

11) What’s in your fridge right now and what’s your go-to recipe?

My fridge is usually full & super organized. My go-to is a rosé risotto with chicken.

12) What’s your favourite part of the day?

Morning time, between Ray & Dre (my doggie) it's a snuggle fest.

13) What’s your ideal vacation spot?

Anywhere hot with a yacht!

14) One word to describe Canada?

15) How about success? What does that word mean to you?

Success to me is mastering the balance between a career & family. Being at your full potential; productive & highly self aware.

16) Are there any special causes that you support? And if so, why?

I visited Dominican Republic with World Vision, served as Youth Ambassador for CANFAR, traveling to Africa to help build at a school & have volunteered for many charities that give back. I have a passion for kids & giving people the basic human rights they deserve like food, water, medical care, education.

17) What is the sweetest surprise your husband has ever given you?

He had a recording studio built inside our home as a Christmas gift.

18) What’s one thing that would surprise us about being a hockey wife?

Maybe the amount of sacrifices an athlete’s spouse makes would come as a surprise. From where you live, how you spend your holidays, who you are surrounded by, etc

19) How do you spend the holidays?

I usually spend Christmas Eve with my parents. Christmas Day with Ray's parents & Boxing Day in Ottawa with our extended families.

20) What’s a must-have on your holiday table?

Sweet potato pie with marshmallows.

21) What’s the best present you’ve ever given?

A surprise baby shower

22) What’s the best present you’ve ever received?

My dog, absolutely!

23) Do you have any family traditions you’d like to share with the fans?

A family tradition that sticks out the most in my mind is Christmas Eve. We stay up all night listening to music, playing games, eating great food, open gifts at midnight. It's just a really good time.

24) What is your ultimate must-have item this season?
