As iVillage Canada Guest Editors, The Property Brothers, Drew and Jonathan Scott, have been sharing their tips for a healthy life all month! Read their top five tips below!
Plan Your Meals
If we could eat sushi all day, everyday, we would! But as tasty as it is, it wouldn’t be a very balanced diet. Because we’re always on the go, eating well takes a little bit of planning. Make sure you have at hand a variety of the different nutrients you need throughout the day so that you don’t end up making last minute meal choices that usually aren’t the healthiest.
Carve Out Time to Exercise
After 14-hour days at work, we’ll admit that it does take some will power to get to the gym. But a workout is just that – work! So put it in your schedule as something that is just as important as submitting that proposal at the office or taking your car in for service. All it takes is 20-30 minutes of moderate physical activity a few days a week
Take Time to Relax
If you love your work as much as we do, it can be hard to pry yourself away from the office. But long-term mental or emotional stress can be detrimental to your physical wellbeing, so it’s crucial to take time out to relax.
Make Yourself Happy
Happiness is a huge part of a healthy lifestyle. Figure out what makes you happy and go for it! People are always baffled by how we manage to do so much and still keep our cool. We simply love what we do and as busy as we are, we remember to make time for the important stuff: family, friends, and trampoline dodgeball, lol. Whatever it is that helps you relax or have a good laugh.
Catch Some Zzs
Your sleep patterns can affect so many other areas of your health –eating habits, your immune system, metabolism, and your stress levels. Ensure you get quality sleep and turn your phone on silent! Your social life really isn’t going to suffer if you don’t comment on that Instagram at 4 am.
