What’s the most important lesson your dad taught you?

The most important lesson my dad taught me was be who you are and don’t change for anyone.

What are you most proud of about your dad?

Proud of my Dad in many ways. My Dad was a professional comedian and night after night, he would go on a stage and make people laugh for hours. If he was having a crappy day he would still get on that stage and give his audience an evening of laughter. That, to me, was something to be proud of.

How did you know when you were in trouble with your dad?

Dad was always the joker. Every minute of every hour he’d be goofing around so when the jokes stopped, you had better stop being naughty. He would get a look on his face and that was enough for us.

What’s the funniest story you have about your dad?

Years ago, when I was probably about 7 years old, we had an electric fire in our kitchen that started squealing when stitched on. Well, dad the fixer decided to spray it with WD40 (while still plugged in) and up it goes in flames. The pure panic of us all unplugging this fire and dumping it outside to prevent the house from burning down was hilarious. He claimed for years after that he fixed it!

What was your favourite meal cooked by dad? (If you have a recipe to share, we’d love it!)

Dad was a great cook…… loved it when he made his chicken curries.
