Do you want to try bright styles but don't know where to start? In this week's episode, Jillian Harris shows us how to venture into bold territory without taking things overboard. It's all about the balance between brights and neutrals.

Here, we'll explain why some of this week's Love It or List It Vancouver outfits work.

In the photo above, we see her rocking a bright shirt under a more subdued (read: darker) blazer and pants. This makes it more wearable and less loud. We've taken this style and toned it down a bit more, in case you're not into chartreuse (aka neon green).

An emerald sweater still stands out while flattering more complexions, and the style of the one seen below is something you'll wear both to work and on weekends.

If you're ready for a more daring look, try one similar to what Jillian wears in the reveal and tips section of the show. The bright fuschia frock is gorgeous and attention-grabbing. We love the colour, and layering in a print is exactly on-trend for Fall 2013. We've selected this Rose Reflect dress for a floral take on her stunning look. Add a black pants and a gorgeous black caryall tote like the one Jillian sports in the episode and you're ready to take the town.

But if you're still not sure about brights, it's okay to stick to the black-on-black-on-blue look that Jillian wears when she tours the home with Julia. Then, add one extreme pop of colour, like this soft suede teal clutch, for an inspired style that anyone can be comfortable in.
