For Carrie in Sex and The City, Aidan was the one who got away. But if you're lucky enough to have a fellow this warm, loyal and lovely, there are a few things to know about his type, so you have a long and fulfilling relationships. Here's how to know if he's an Aidan, and tips for making it work.

He’s an Aidan if these characteristics describe him to a tee:
-    sensitive
-    easygoing
-    drama-free
-    communicative
-    not caught up in ‘the scene’
-    effortless
-    a man's man
-    handy man around the house
-    affectionate
-    intuitive

Follow these tips if you’re dating this type of guy:

1. Be open

If your guy is just like Aidan, he is lucky in love and you’re his princess. To him, your happiness means the world and if there’s anything he can do to ensure said happiness, he’ll make sure he does whatever it is to keep you in that sunshiny place. But let's face it, guys can’t read minds.

Let go of the idea that he should know what you want and need and instead, guide him. Have a non-confrontational, easy conversation with him next time you guys are cuddling on the couch or out at your local watering-hole. Tell him what you need from him–whether it be having him be more affectionate when you’re feeling down, or needing him to have better boundaries with what he shares about your relationship.

The more open you are, the more at ease you’ll both feel, as he’ll be able to meet your needs in a way that works best.

2. Embrace his quirks

Lucky you, you found a guy who isn’t judgmental. He accepts you for all your craziness and quirks and makes you feel comfortable just being you whenever he’s around. This, my friend, is a gift, so give him the same respect back by doing the same for him.

Sure, you might not get why he can’t miss one hockey game (it’s not even playoff season yet!) and you might not understand why him and his boys always have to play shinny on the weekend, but he is who he is, so bask in the fact that these are the things he loves to do.

The more you nag, the more his patience will wear thin. Instead, let him see that you love that he does these things.

Use your words to tell him he’s your hero, and do it often.

3. Use your words

Did he just kill a bug that managed to get in your house? Did he remove a sliver from your foot? Did he rock you in the bedroom? Use your words to tell him he’s your hero, and do it often.

By acknowledging the manly things he does, you are giving him reassurance that you notice even the little things and he’ll want to keep doing them to seek said acknowledgement.

The Aidan type basks in feeling manly, so be sure to tell him almost daily how much you love that Viking side of him.
