We recently chatted with Shaun Majumder about his epic career, favourite things, and of course Burlington, Newfoundland and Majumder Manor! Read on to learn all about our favourite Canadian comedian.

1. What is your motto?
Leap and the net will appear.

2. Favourite vacation destination in the world?
Thailand… before the coups.

3. I feel lucky because...
I get to do what I love for a living and people pay me to be myself. Wow.

4. What’s your favourite song/album right now?
Daft Punk - Random Access Memories

5. What’s the main difference between Newfoundland and elsewhere?
In Newfoundland, someone as funny as Louis CK or Rick Gervais would be the 9th funniest person at a dinner party.

6. What would you like to be doing five years from now?
Creating, continuing my social enterprise work in Newfoundland, as well as growing my acting, filmmaking, writing and directing career.

7. Favourite thing about being Canadian?
We get it.

8. My best time of day is…
My favourite time of day is sunset…but I think my best time of day is around 2:37pm.

9. What mildly pleasant, but pretty pointless things do you fritter too much time doing?
I hate getting caught in a YouTube vortex. “Hey those animals are cute. Surfing dog in Africa…so fun…a Buffalo escapes lion attack? Wow. Street fight turns deadly? Lady stabs gas attendant…” I can’t! But I do… “New Tsunami Footage!”

10. What makes you frustrated the most or is your biggest pet peeve?
Losing my keys or credit card…for 13 minutes. Most times it’s not actually lost or stolen. But when you can’t find them and they were right there two seconds ago, it turns me into a horrible person. I blame, I get angry, now I have to call RBC and cancel everything and buy a new CAR??? WHAT? Oh, they were in my OTHER pants.

11. What is your most treasured possession?
I think our two awesome Boston Terriers Jazzy and Freddy. They aren’t possessions, really, but I do pay the bills and throw sticks, so basically they know who’s boss.

12. Proudest achievement so far?
I think doing the work we are doing in Newfoundland, and making an original TV show about it. The work we are doing on the ground is authentic, and so is the show we are making. I am blessed to have my partners who I make this show with. Including the amazing team at W. We are doing something very cool.

13. When and where were you happiest?
Anytime I am surrounded by my beautiful family: Shelby, Jazzy and Freddy.

14. Favourite comfort food?
Nan’s Rice soup.

15. Favourite recipe?
Don’t have one – pass!

16. The first thing I do when I wake up is…

17. The last thing I do before I go to bed is…
Check the weather on my iPad.

18. My perfect Saturday is…
Midmorning breakfast with my’lady. Head to a beach, surf a little, chill a little, run with dogs, surf again, then hit an amazing food truck and head home for a hot tub.

19. Favourite childhood memory?
Almost popping a blood vessel in my head from laughing so hard with my mom flipping through a Far Side book. “No no, I’m Al Tilly the bum!”

20. What is something that has changed your life?
I went to a leadership conference in high school and during a commerce exercise, my competitive nature at that time had me believing all opposing groups were out to destroy us. I convinced my team of this. They got behind my very convincing argument and we were completely wrong. I was devastated and it changed my assumptions of the world.
