Sue's Sex FAQ
Vasectomy
Sex FAQs provided by Sue Johanson of the Sunday Night Sex Show.
Q. What is involved in a modern vasectomy? Is it reversible?
A. Yes, it is reversible. Absolutely, especially with the new microsurgery where they just make a little incision. There is a new painless surgery out now, there is no discomfort at all but you do have to wear a jock strap afterwards. Ask a doctor if your province covers the cost of a reversal. Even with the old style vasectomy, the doctor will freeze the area and then make a little incision and tie off the vas and stitch it up and go in the other side. You would go home the same afternoon with an ice bag and your wife would make chicken soup. Post-surgery may be scary for guys. The testicles turn purple and they think, "I am dying, gangrene is setting in, they are going to fall off." It's much easier for men to have a vasectomy than women to have a tubaligation.
Q. How long after a vasectomy reversal can I have children? Is there anything I can do to increase my sperm count?
A. They are now saying that zinc helps. Go to a well-recognized health store and they'll have an expert there on herbal treatments. I am not sure how much you need but it will definitely raise your sperm count. Oxcialic Acid is another herbal medication that might help. Wear loose shorts. No more tight underwear, don't go in for trail biking or extreme biking or jogging the marathon and cut down on hot baths.
