Sue's Sex FAQ
Erectile Problems
Sex FAQs provided by Sue Johanson of the Sunday Night Sex Show.
Q. Why can't my boyfriend keep an erection after he orgasms?
A. Most men can't keep an erection after they ejaculate. Once he has ejaculated, immediately his endorphins cut off and he goes through a refractory phase. He loses his erection so fast the next thing you know he is sound asleep. Women have a refractory phase too but our does not crash; it declines, slowly. We're wide awake for about five minutes. During that time we want to be snuggled and kissed and told five things: I love you, I need you, I want you, you're the greatest and I will never leave you. We need to hear those five things and if we don't, we turn into a witch. It's fine.
Q. When I put on a condom I lose my erection right away. Why?
A. You are not going to like this. No more intercourse for now, but you can masturbate. That is the only outlet you can have. Every time you masturbate you are going to use a condom. You will get an erection, then put on the condom. You will flop. You think…forget that. So you are horny the next night because you didn't ejaculate last night, so you put on a condom and it may go limp again. Eventually your body is going to get used to the feel of a condom and you will be able to ejaculate even with a condom on. You will get used to the condom and you will be just fine. And guess what? You will be able to "last longer!"
Q. My husband is older and we are having an erectile problem. I heard that men have a G spot under their testicles. Is this true?
A. The G spot for guys is called the A spot. If you put a condom on your finger with lots of lube and first insert one finger in the rectum and then insert two fingers and crook your fingers towards his abdomen, this is the A spot. You are hitting his prostate gland and for guys that will be very, very pleasurable. It really doesn't do anything for his problem of obtaining or maintaining an erection but it feels good.
Now you may be referring to an area just behind his testicles. Kids call it the CHODA. Just prior to ejaculation, if you press into that area of his perineum, they say you will increase his sexual pleasure.
Has he ever tried a cock ring to help maintain an erection? And there is a Vacuum Suction Device that will help him get a firm erection. Go to a really good sex store and ask a clerk to show you a vacuum suction device. In the beginning you are not going to buy a very expensive one, but it is a plastic tube that the penis goes inside. You push it against your abdomen, take the long tube and use the squeeze pump and that sucks the air out of the tube and blood into his penis. He slides the cock ring over the base of the penis and keeps the erection for a good 20 to 25 minutes.
Q. After I pulled my muscle I have had a problem maintaining an erection and ejaculating. Is it connected at all?
A. I haven't got a clue. What muscle did you pull, because your penis is not a muscle or a bone? So pulling a muscle in your upper thigh should not affect your ability to have and maintain an erection long enough for great sex. Go to your family doctor to find out what has happened.
