The Shopping Bags
Looking through rose-coloured lenses is one thing – looking through scratched lenses will make the world look, well, scratched! But what do you do when your prescription glasses or sunglasses that you may have paid hundreds of dollars for get scratched? Replacing your lenses is the obvious option, but when we saw a product advertised on TV that promised to inexpensively repair scratches we thought it required a Shopping Bags review.
Liquid Lense claims to fill and seal scratches for an invisible repair by applying a special polymer-based coating to your glasses.

We tested Liquid Lense by inflicting some glasses with pretty typical and expected scratches. We also went to town on some glasses scratching them to the point of being unusable. Then we followed the instructions to see just how well this product works.
The Results
In a word, poor. The Liquid Lense partially filled and lightened some of the scratches but certainly didn’t do enough to clear things up.
We also went to optometrist Dr. Todd McNab for his opinion on whether Liquid Lense is actually safe to use on your prescription glasses. Liquid Lense says that it won’t affect the prescription of your lenses. Dr. McNab agrees that it doesn’t change the prescription but it does leave visible imperfections on the lenses which will cloud and distort what you see, which is almost as bad as the scratches.
Also, it’s interesting to point out that Liquid Lense is not suitable for any lenses that have an anti-glare surface. As Dr. McNab points out since most glasses are now all anti-glare that pretty much renders it useless.
So, if you want to see things clearly we certainly don’t think Liquid Lense is up to scratch.
