If you want a portable mirror so you can check and fix yourself up practically anywhere, the Handy Hook Mirror may be of interest to you. We thought it was intriguing enough to put it to a Shopping Bags test.

It comes with its own carrying case, tweezers, and scissors and says it’ll hook or stand anywhere (a showerhead, a chair, etc). And for $39.99, we thought it required further reflection .

It even says you can hook it around your neck so your hands are free to do whatever you need to do. We took it to the streets and asked some fellow shoppers to check it out. Well, it hooked around your neck but required your shoulders to do most of the work just to keep it there. Sort of awkward and gimmicky really, was the overall verdict.

During our testing process the Handy Hook Mirror even fell apart on us – the shatter-resistant mirror didn’t break but the frame ended up in pieces.

So even though it didn’t go over very well with our testers, they agreed it might come in “handy”, until that is, they heard it was $40!
