Cleaning up after a greasy dinner can mean extra soaking and scrubbing, but the Grease Bullet promises to beat that grease with the speed and strength of, well, a bullet!

Inside the bullet-shaped container is a package of 12 dissolving tablets for about $10. All you have to do is fill your sink with hot tap water and drop in one Grease Bullet tablet, let it soak for 30 minutes with your baked-on greasy cookware and it will disappear with no scrubbing required.

Our chemistry professor dissected these little tablets to see what’s actually inside:

  • Enzyme – removes protein
  • Abrasive – removes stains
  • Bleach – bleach stains
  • Soap – removes grease

The tablets also contain a small amount of phosphates, which can have an environmental impact. So if you’re environmentally conscious, you’re likely going to reject the Grease Bullet on this finding, since phosphates washed down our drains pollute our water.

We tried the Grease Bullet on some greasy pots and grease-coated BBQ grills. The pots came out only needing a gentle wiping, eliminating a lot of the work, which made us happy. But when we tried it on the grills, we left one soaking overnight with a Grease Bullet tablet and another in regular dishwashing detergent. The next day both grills showed very similar results from both cleaners, but they both still required some good old fashioned elbow grease!

So while it helped a little bit we couldn’t get over the cost of an additional product to do a so-so job. So we gave the Grease Bullet two Shopping Bags out of five.
