Q: I am allergic to most of the creams I have tried, and break out in a serious rash whenever I use them. Is there another way I can moisturize and treat my skin?

I am allergic to most of the creams I have tried, and break out in a serious rash whenever I use them. Is there another way I can moisturize and treat my skin? Or are there any products made for extremely sensitive skin that I can use without a reaction?

Dr. Fred Weksberg: If you are having reactions to many creams then it is likely you have a specific allergy (called contact dermatitis) to at least one specific ingredient, and maybe more. Try using creams that are labelled as being hypoallergenic. These creams have fewer preservatives. It this still does not help then you will need allergy patch testing by a dermatologist.  This test will help to identify exactly what ingredient is causing the allergy reaction. Once identified you can select creams by looking at list of ingredients of various creams, and then selecting the cream that does not contain the offending agent.
