Kitchen & bathroom flooring. What would you suggest? I like cork flooring for the kitchen. What are the pro and cons? I Have heard that ceramic tiles are hard on the feet and it is cold. Your comments will be very much appreciated. Thank you, Ann

Answer
I love cork floors! My crews install a lot of cork floors in the kitchens we do. Did you know that its harvested from the bark of the cork oak tree (found in the mediterranean), and done right, the tree will re-grow the cork and it can be re-harvested in about 9 years. So this is definitely an environmentally preferred product (EPP baby). Cork has a softness and comfort to it like no other floor, it comes in many colors, it reduces impact noise like people walking by or pets, its naturally anti-allergenic (if you have allergies this is awesome) its durable, self healing (drop something heavy on it and it will eventually pop back up- most of the time), and it has naturally occurring substance called suberin. This stuff repels insects, mold, protects cork from rotting when wet for a long time (forgot to clean up a spill from that wild party the night before?) and its fire resistant! Have I sold you?
