Over the years we've tested many hair products and believe that it is mostly an individual choice depending on your specific hair needs. Generally though, our tests on both deep and regular hair conditioners revealed a strong preference for the drug store brands, whereas tests on mousse and hairspray showed the salon brands to be distinct favourites. So sadly, there’s no definitive rule on which is better.
Our best advice is to try a variety of brands, both salon and drug store, to see what products work best for you. You might need to invest in some higher priced salon products but you also might find that you can get away with more cost-effective brands especially if you invest in a great stylist who knows how to work with your hair.
