Here's all you'll need for a DIY pedicure. Light some candles and don't forget to bring your favourite magazine to read while the polish dries.

Pedicure Supplies:

  • Basin of warm water containing an essential oil
  • A soft towel
  • Nail buffing block
  • Nail polish remover
  • Foam toe separators
  • Cotton balls
  • Fine grain emery board
  • A metal cuticle push or stick of orangewood with tapered ends
  • Nailbrush Cuticle removing oil or cream
  • Foot cream (preferably with Vitamin E)
  • Sea salt/exfoliant scrub
  • Tweezers
  • Base coat
  • Top coat
  • Nail polish

Steps:

The following steps will help you give yourself the most fabulous pedicure, without the high cost of visiting the salon:

1. Soak your feet in warm water (with essential oil, if you like) for about 3 minutes. Ahh!

2. Remove feet and apply a generous amount of sea salt or exfoliating scrub to your feet and scrub, scrub, scrub.

3. Rinse feet thoroughly

4. Use a nailbrush to remove any leftover dirt from under nails and towel dry your feet.

5. Take one orange stick and roll some cotton from the cotton ball onto the end. While your cuticles are still soft, gently push them back with the stick.

6. Take the fine emery board and file your nails into the shape you like. File in only one direction, not back and forth, working from the side of the nail to middle of nail tip and down to the other side.

7. Apply vitamin E cream to your newly exfoliated feet. Take the soft towel and rub off any excess cream from the toenails so your base coat will adhere properly.

8. Pluck any long toe hairs.

9. Put the foam toe separators on your feet.

10. Apply base coat, two coats of colour and then topcoat. Wait at least 2-3 minutes between coats.

Take your time and wear your peep toes while the weather's still fine so everyone can admire your beautiful toes!
